1. Information We Collect
When you create a player account, we collect: your name, email, date of birth, contact information, school/team information, athletic performance metrics, photos, and video you choose to upload. Date of birth is collected specifically to determine whether parental consent is required, and is treated as sensitive information.
For coach and scout accounts, we collect: name, email, organization/team affiliation, and title.
For parents/guardians of players under 18, we collect: name and email, used solely to request and record consent.
2. How We Use Information
- To create and display your recruiting profile to coaches and scouts (players)
- To let coaches and scouts search for and contact players
- To send account-related emails (verification, consent requests, activity notifications)
- To process one-time account payments (via PayPal; we do not store your full card details)
3. Who We Share Information With
Player profile information (performance data, photos, video, school/team info) is visible to verified coach and scout accounts for recruiting purposes. We do not sell player data to third parties.
4. Children's Privacy and Parental Consent
Most players on Bird Dog Scout are over 13, but we apply extra protections for any player under 18:
- A parent or guardian must confirm consent by email before the account is fully activated
- Consent covers our collection and sharing of the player's performance data, photos, and video with coaches and scouts
- Parents and guardians may revoke consent at any time by emailing privacy@birddogscout.com. Revoking consent will deactivate the player's account.
5. Your Choices and Rights
- Hide from search: You may request that your profile be hidden from coach/scout search results while your account and data remain in our system.
- Delete your account: You may request permanent deletion of your account, profile, metrics, videos, and messages. Payment/transaction records may be retained as required for financial recordkeeping.
- Revoke consent (parents/guardians): Revoke consent for a minor's account at any time via privacy@birddogscout.com.

6. Data Retention
We retain account and profile data for as long as your account is active. If you request deletion, we remove your profile, metrics, videos, messages, and related data promptly. Payment/subscription records are retained separately as required for financial and tax purposes.
7. Data Security
We use industry-standard measures (encrypted connections, hashed passwords) to protect your information. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this page.
